SARS-CoV-2 Antibody Test Information (COVID-19)
What is being tested?
COVID-19, also known as SARS-CoV-2, is a virus which causes severe acute respiratory syndrome. Antibodies are produced by the body in repsonse to antigens (foreign proteins), which are unique to each type of infectious organism.
How is it used?
The test will provide a preliminary test result on whether SARS-CoV-2 antibodies are present in the blood sample. The test allows post-infection or vaccination antibody screening. Doctors can advise immediate healthcare actions depending on the results.
What does the test result mean?
A positive result indicates that SARS-CoV-2 antibodies are present in the blood sample, indicating exposure to COVID-19. These antibodies can also be found after successful vaccination.
What is the sample required?
A lancet prick of the finger to get a drop of blood. For international travellers, a blood sample drawn from a vein in your arm may be required.
